Conversion Tracking
Facebook ads clicks vs website visits
One of the most puzzling questions we get from customers who run Facebook Ads, and want to analyze their website traffic, is why there's discrepancies between Facebook Ad clicks, and Facebook Pixel fires aka website visits. This is where Landing Page views come in, since they're the closest metric you can use in Facebook Ads Manager reporting to track your website visitors. In many cases, we've heard (and experienced first-hand) up to a 50% drop-off between Facebook Ad clicks, and Landing Page Views 🙈. So what causes this discrepancy? And how can you optimize your ads for more website visitors?
SEO Landingpage
Facebook ads
Meta ads
A Facebook landing page is a dedicated page designed to convert visitors from a specific pay-per-click (PPC) Facebook ad. These landing pages differ from other pages (product pages on your website etc.) because they're specifically made to complement your Facebook ad.
Google Ads redirection
It comes up often with our clients — how do I track the performance of a URL that I’ve set up to redirect to a different page? Whether you’re running an offline marketing campaign with a specific URL, measuring the performance of a landing page, managing digital ads targeted at different audiences, or analyzing conversion rates, tracking your redirects can offer key information that will help you to better pursue your business goals.
AdHop applications
You want to promote your IMDb or Linked-In profile on social media, AND you want to track visitors or ad pixels. Use the AdHop URL in your post.
Do you suspect that your ad service is reporting more clicks than you really get? Create an AdHop, and use it's link instead of the destination URL.
You earn money by sending people to an affiliate site, like a productpage. Do you trust your linking parter's reports? Create an AdHop, and use it's link, it's free!
You don't have to use an ad service to use AdHops. You can make an AdHop for any link, e.g. if you want to hide or shorten the links, and measure clicks.

Frequently Asked Questions
General
How many AdHops can I create in total?
-
The is no hard limit to the number of AdHops you can create on one e-mail address, but we take the liberty of
contacting users who create over 1000 links per month.
How long will my AdHops remain active?
-
Until the end of times... We don't delete AdHops automatically, or for no reason.
Can my AdHop be deleted or deactivated?
-
We don't delete AdHops automatically. Having said that... we reserve the right to delete or block accounts and AdHops that violate our Terms of Use
at any time. If you specifically require us to hard-delete your AdHop from our database, please drop us an email.
I've lost my AdHop confirmation e-mail and edit-link, what can I do?
-
We are working on a one-click solution to this problem, but for now please e-mail your request to support@go-via.cc.
Do you store IP addresses of visitors?
-
No! We do not store IP addresses that use our AdHop redirects. Also, our webserver is not logging any visitor's data, other than the browser information you can see on the statistics page.
What does SEO-Friendly mean?
-
SEO only comes into play if you use the AdHop URL to submit to search engines such as Google. We don't use server-side HTTP header redirects (301/302). Our AdHop redirect pages just look and act like any other webpage, and have all necessary meta tags in place to be considered "SEO Friendly".
As far as we know, there is no impact on your site's SEO if you use AdHop links to submit to search engines.
Does using AdHop redirection violates FB/Meta Ads policies?
-
No, not at all! Linking from FB and Google ads to landingpages is common practice, and in no way a violation of anyone's terms, privacy, or rights.
Our AdHop redirect pages just look and act like any other webpage.
AdHops
How can I surpass the landingpage and hide the "powered-by" text?
-
If you want a clean and fast redirect, you need to set the "Delay before redirect" setting of your AdHop to 0 (zero).
All trackingcode will be triggered and all meta tags will be injected, but no progress or text is shown. Zero delay will be added to the redirection process.
Is an AdHop a landing page?
-
In a sense, yes, but it's main purpose is not to act like a fancy landingpage, but to trigger the necessary tracking code(s) and redirect to the destination page a.s.a.p.
We've seen AdHops with very creative designs, using images and text, that pass for very decent landingpages!
I want a free URL shortener with analytics, can I use an AdHop?
-
Yes! Go/Via has a free URL shortener build in! The first and only shortener that can trigger pixels and ad tags too!
Create an AdHop with your Google Analytics tag code, and use the Shortened AdHop URL.
I just need a visitors counter for a specific link, can I use an AdHop?
-
Absolutely. Just leave all fields empty when you create a new AdHop, except for the Destination URL and your e-mail address.
Now use the AdHop URL as your link. Each AdHop comes with a stats page. You can see a demo stats page here: go-via.cc/s/?v1Ba.
How can I check how my AdHop and the OG-meta-tags appear on social media?
-
If you have a Facebook account, you can access the Facebook Sharing Debugger @ developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/.
Just enter the AdHop URL, click Debug and Fetch New Information, and a preview is shown of how your link and OG image look on social media.
What is the best size for an OG Image?
-
The best size for an OG image is 1200 x 630 pixels. Get more information from this Google search: Google: best OG:image size.
If you want to learn everything there is to know about the important OG meta tags, follow these links:
can I combine a Meta Pixel, TikTok pixel and Google Analytics Tagmanager code altogether in one AdHop?
-
Yes you can! You can provide the pixel and tag ID's at time of creation, and they will be fired one by one by the AdHop.
The AdHop image is clipped or distorted in my ads or on social media. How can I fix this?
-
You have to provide an OG:image URL to an image that meets the requirements of the social media or ad service you are targetting. This counts for all ad services and social media sites.

Facebook / Meta
The URL in the ad is shown as "GO-VIA.CC" instead of the destination URL. How can I fix this?
-
To hide the go-via.cc URL in the ad, you have set the "Visible link" field in the ad settings to the destination URL, without the https:// prefix.
For example: spotify.com or mywebsite.com.
